The best way to clean stains from a rug would be a solution of mild dish soap, diluted with water. The rug fibers will not be damaged by using dish soap and the stains will be removed gently. Too much soap on wool should be avoided. Water should be used to wash and rinse it.
The tools and supplies that should be used alongside the soap solution is a bucket, soft-bristle sponge, and some extra water. Rubber gloves and vacuum can be used too.
The vacuum should be used to get rid of solid debris, but for the cleaning solution, a rug shampoo can be used alongside the soap solution. After the cleaning, the rug is rinsed with clean water and left to dry. The final step is to vacuum and brush it.

- The rug or carpet should be regularly vacuumed to get rid of any eggs. Carpet moths are found mostly in dark places so make sure to clean under furniture.
- Take a bag and fill it with dried herbs like lavender or thyme and hang it. This would act as a repellent. The repellent should be replaced every few months.
There are often times when your rug or carpet might have a hole. It’s necessary to be taken care of before it extends.
